The main difference between neo-realism and classical realism is actually in their opinion about the causes of conflict in international relations. Classical realism does emphasis on self-interest and continuing human nature in connection with which the state and authorities are seeking self-serving units (Randall, 2005). Neo-realism, on the other hand, Neo-Realism argues that the conflict in international relations can explain the state of anarchy: the absence of a general power in the IR which pushes the individual states want power (Self-Help System).
