Introduction

Today's cinema is a lot more different and open then it used to be few decades back. According to Griffits (2006, pp.1) “during the last ten years British Cinema has gone through a period of renaissance where research and writing have change the genre of the British Cinema”. The change had occurred in not only the British Cinema but change or advancement had reached Hollywood and Bollywood where today every kind of movie is made and is also able to attract the visitors as well. Queer cinema has emerged as a new phase in the history of cinema. There are three movies that will be analysed in order to have a look of the Queer Cinema that represents the relation between people of same gender. The detailed analysis of the three movies from the Queer Cinema will help in understanding the significance of homosexuality and heterosexuality in the society today.

Discussion

According to Ging (2012) “during the last decade not only the cinema has changed but the form of art has also changed”. Every kind of film making has been accommodated in today's world of cinema. Today's cinema has diversified from making classical, historical towards making post-modern films which include all kinds of topics. British Cinema is little hesitant and protective towards making movies on topics like homosexuality but American, Indian, Canadian and even Irish film industry has emphasizing too much on Queer Cinema. There has been a drastic increase in the pluralistic, multi-cultural and visibility of gay, lesbian, immigrant, ethnic minority characters. These kinds of movies have provided people a substitute vision. The American Queer Cinema had an impact on the British Cinema as well and the increase in the market of the Queer Cinema this trend spread in different parts of the world. According to Dasgupta (2012) “Queer movies have certain limitations due to different categories like gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender. These categories provide certain limits to the disclosing of secrets behind these relationships''. The film makers have to follow these limits in order to make movies related to these subjects. Queer cinema does not allow the film makers to show intense love and sex scenes in these movies because then these kinds of movies are rated x and expect for the people involved in same gender relationship watch these movies.

Movies in Queer Cinema During 1990s

According to Walters (2012) “in his article he acknowledged the increasing trends of the Queer Cinema where homosexual relationships of gays, lesbians and other similar gender were screened prominently”. The three movies analysed are as following:
