A Nonprofit Organization is a body constituted for moral, altruistic, social, educational, religious, philanthropic, health, issues of the society and these activities should not provide monetary benefit to its members or donors. They do not aim at economic profit, like business organizations, which generate income and distribute among its stakeholders. In nonprofit organizations, income is generated as funds from contributions made ??for financing the social activities for the betterment of the society. Nonprofit Organizations are tax exempted under the Section 501(c) (3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.

The five marketing or public relations tools/methods that will be used in nonprofit organization are

Print Media

The print media includes Newspapers, journals, magazines, yellow pages, direct mail, newsletters, flyers, brochures, business cards, bumper stickers, bookmarks, temporary tattoos, et cetera. There are many options when it comes to printed materials in marketing the nonprofit organization (Burnett, 2007). The options are almost endless if one sits down and brainstorms the possibilities. Not only can a nonprofit organization place a traditional advertisement in a newspaper, but also it can send out a press release to have the newspaper run a story on its organization, submit a letter to the editor, or even place an advertisement in the classifieds.

Increased Internet presence

The organization should focus on increasing its internet presence. Just having a website, does not fulfill the needs of the organization. A website is typically visited by those who have of the organization. The organization should spend time in signing up on the boards of companies in your industry, create a blog in addition to the company's page, and where weekly update any new promotions or news are posted, which will attract traffic to the organization's site.

Engaging in Social networks

The social networks are the future of advertising and the nonprofit organizations should also focus on advertising through this medium, which includes social networks, Facebook, Twitter etc. Social networking is a great opportunity to attract the people in charity donations and volunteer services.

Direct Mailing

Typically, direct mailing involves purchasing a list from a broker and “cold mailing” individuals, although this does not typically have a worthy success rate. Obtaining one's own mailing list of interested individuals is always ideal, so the organization should constantly be collecting contact information at charity events, programs, exhibition and shows, to build on this list (Burnett, 2007).

Broadcast: Television, Radio

The nonprofit organization can advertise, regarding its services and their unique volunteer and donation procedures, on television and radio media with quite effective results for the company. It can get a television station to sponsor it through free airtime for a commercial. It can achieve success through marketing on these two Medias, because of the higher availability of resources.

Funding Sources

Rising social issues and their costs have created financing issues for all non-profit. Because non-profit organizations are a tax exempt organizations they must follow specific tax codes to obtain financing.
