Introduction

Nursing is the profession falling under the category of medical and health care. This profession emphasizes on the care of families, individuals and communities so that they can maintain their good health, and recover from diseases or illnesses to good health.

The purpose of this paper is to identify ways in which nurses can play their role in implementing and improving medical procedures in different areas, and how they can help in delivering better medical care to the patient. It is aimed at finding ways through which nurses can help in preventing unwanted situations from medical perspective, such as failures to deliver optimum medical health care. In short, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate and summarize the nurse's role in supporting the organization's strategic agenda.

The health care sector has evolved greatly with the passage of time, and this has also called on the need of assuming more responsibilities by the health care providers (Mark et.al, 2003).

Nurses take a somewhat different approach from others who are engaged in health care provision. There areas of practice are very diverse as well as the level of authority they are designated to practice. However, most of the nurses are allowed to provide medical health care to patients under the guidelines provided by the physicians and doctor.

Discussion

As mentioned earlier, this paper is aimed at identification of means by which the nurses can provide improved medical care to patients and implement the procedures that are prescribed by organizations like National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI). This organization has set aside a number of guidelines and principles to be followed that help in the assessment of how well nursing is being prescribed in the relevant areas. To do this, the organization first evaluates a number of factors that are closely linked to the profession of nursing and after thorough evaluation, it provides feedback regarding the quality of service that is provided by nursing.

Every organization that is engaged in the provisioning of nursing services has an agenda that states all the aims and objectives of the organization. Besides this, an organization's agenda helps a great deal in analyzing the overall performance of the organization as per pre-defined standards. The most common elements of an organization's agenda engaged in nursing are to obtain or maintain magnet status, provide direct care activities to help reduce pressure sores or ulcers reducing vacancy rates, reducing fall rates and reducing nosocomial (hospital-acquired infections) rates. These factors are amongst the most significant and crucial objectives that form an organization's agenda. The role of nursing in context of effective implementation from the perspective of these perspectives is to be highlighted.
