Working Title of Dissertation

To determine how online accounting education methods during 10-16-week semesters differ from methods used by institutions of higher learning offering online instruction in a condensed five to eight-week format.

Introduction

Accelerated learning programs ranging from 3-8 weeks semester are one of the best and growing revolutions in degree based programs particularly at master's and doctorate level programs. There has also been increased criticism on the accelerated accounting degree programs, as they tend to challenge elementary academic structures such as the standard 45 hours of instruction, tenure of the faculty and the subjects that need to be covered during the entire program.

Outline of the Study

This dissertation will demonstrate an understanding and assessment of the primary difference between the methodological approaches adopted by both of the programs.

The research study will be conducted in a systematic and logical manner, whereby creating an understanding of the practical implication and perspectives of the topic, assessing it in detail as to how both the approaches differ in detail. The proposal would further outline and identify the topics that need to be analyzed in this context. In the end the researcher will provide a set of implications and outcomes of the research.

Research Questions

The following will be the research questions of this study:

How does an online accounting education method ranging from 10-16-week semesters differ from a five to eight-week program?

Which are the major subjects that form the curriculum of the online accountancy programs which are offered for shorter periods (5-8 weeks)?

What are the principal knowledge and learning's outcomes associated with the online accountancy programs which are offered for shorter periods (5-8 weeks)?

Aims and Objectives

The following will be the objectives of this research:

To study the implications of accountancy programs those are offered for 5-8 weeks on the career prospects of an individual.

To discuss the different methodologies adopted by institutions in offering online accounting education method ranging from 10-16-week .

To critically evaluate the structure of the curriculum taught to students who undertake online accounting education in both the shorter and longer time periods.
