Introduction

One of the most important functions of an organization's Human Resources Department is the recruitment of qualified employees. It is important that human resource management selects individuals with the background and skills that match the qualifications of the job opening. The most popular and effective source of recruiting for companies in the 21st Century by far is internet recruiting, also referred to as e-recruiting. E-recruiting usually takes part on third party job boards. E-recruiting is exactly what most businesses are looking for when it comes to filling any open positions from non-skilled employees to seasoned experienced professionals. It can be used to hire quality employees quickly and cost effectively. In this paper I will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of online recruitment from the perspective of employers as well as of the employees or job applicants.

Over the past decade, Internet penetration rates have been on a sharp rise. The Internet has significantly changed the job application process and improved the channels at communication between employers and job-seekers. Yet despite significant interest in the topic, past studies offer little evidence on the role of the Internet in the job search process and its

impact on labor market outcomes.

E-recruiting as a special form of recruitment is by means of computer-and web-based media steadily on the rise, however the recruitment through the Internet or intranet and appropriate e-recruitment software. The application areas of e-recruiting are wide and cover almost all aspects of "traditional" recruitment. Thus, e-recruiting is to support the development of job postings, online marketing staff, the candidate selection (including the implementation of assessment centers), the ranking candidate and the candidate relationship management. In the best case, the data is transferred to the personnel selection in the human resources development system and the digital personnel file.

A vast number of companies are requiring applicants to apply online; this is the only way for an individual to submit the application and/or resume. Applying online is one of the fastest ways to recruit and has proven to be a benefit to the company because it saves paper, money, time and trees (environmental friendly). With this favorable practice, applicants must know how to successfully apply for a job online. Each company has their own process; therefore, it's important for applicants to receive information and instructions on how to meet the hiring company requirements. Meeting their hiring requirements can be the result of whether or not the person will be considered for the job (Adams, Nelson, Todd, 2010).

An applicant applying online has been identified as an analytic need for companies because it enhances their hiring process. These needs are generally perceived by intuition, insight, or expert consideration. The need exist on an organizational, task, and person analysis level of need. The organizational analysis suggests where in the company training is needed and under what conditions it will occur.
