Evaluate and discuss airport operator security responsibilities

The responsibilities of air port security operator are many as airport security is very vital and important for the aviation industry. One must be very careful while being on duty. The following are the responsibilities of airport security officer:

The airport security operator should have at least one or more coordinator in his security program for efficient and improved security. For this purpose one or more person should be assigned as the airport security coordinator. His primary responsibility should be the airport security and he must work on it in any case. The ASC must perform his duty properly as his primary concern is only airport security although the ASC can perform other duties as well. The ASC must be on call and be available for any job or work related to airport security. He must keep a check on the security system of the airport and make sure that all the other members of his team are working properly and he is doing his duty well. He must check whether the applicable security directives are working properly or not.

In case of emergency he must be aware of his duties and be proactive and a good decision maker too. He must keep a check on airport security employment history and do his best to ensure proper security within his assigned premises. He must have the authority to keep an eye on any mishap and do corrective measure as well. He must have the authority to keep an eye on people in the premises and ask for identification if and when necessary. This is very important in regard of security of airport. Unauthorized people should be identified and should be ask for id as well. (Mudge 2007)
