Culture and HR Policies and Practices

Organizational culture

Organizational culture is the amalgamation of values and practices that are followed in the organization. An organization culture is the product of the mission and values of the organization. It is this mission and values that tell the employees the reason for the existence of the organization. It gives them a direction as to where they want to be and how they can get there through the implementation of the values. The business practices, as well as the employee behavior are the result of the organizational culture. The organizational culture can also be defined as the shared belief of the organization. A culture that focuses on high performance engraves this performance in the very roots of the organization. It is a culture where employees take ownership not only of their own work but also of the entire organization and their bottom line (Rosenthal & Masarech, 2003).

Organizations that focus on performance cultivate the culture of high performance in the very basics of the organization. Everything that the organization does is the result of this ideology. Most interestingly these organizations make the organizational culture their core competence. It means that the organization has a culture that cannot be replicated by the competitors of the organization (Rosenthal & Masarech, 2003). These organizations make sure that the human resource department functions properly and that it hires the best from the talent pool. Only the star performers and the go getters make part of the organizational team. They strive to create an environment where employees are empowered to take decisions in the best interest of the organization. They do not need direction for small tasks that make part of their daily routine work.

These organizations do not provide employees jobs or career instead they provide them lifestyle. It is because of this reason that employees make the organization family and are attached to it emotionally. There is no better way of creating employee loyalty than to link them to the organization at an emotional level.

The 4th quadrant brand equity

The organization I work for is the Workforce solutions. It is a relatively small organization that caters to the human resource needs of its different clients in meeting their hunt for human resource. The organization takes pride in its people and claims that it is its people that make the competitive advantage of the company. Commitment, integrity and innovation are the core values of the company that the organization is based on. The company has integrated these core values into the organizational culture that are followed by the quality human resource of workforce solutions. The three core values are discussed hereunder (Workforce Solutions, 2011).
