In today's world, more people are experiencing in your workplace a constant stress. Stressors are many: increased competition among employees, need to perform their professional duties, strained relations with colleagues, greater responsibility for decisions, etc. As a result, under the influence of all these factors, our body breaks down, and this failure is expressed in all different ways, depending on the individual. Someone falls into a depression. A frequent companion of burnout is chronic fatigue, which manifests itself in muscle weakness, insomnia, memory impairment, prolonged migraine In the United States, the phenomenon of career burnout has long been recognized (Pines. 2005). Employees, who work too hard, for too long, can become depressed and, in extreme cases, suffer nervous breakdowns or worse. Comparative figures are hard to come by, but anecdotal evidence suggests that the problem may be getting worse in the United Kingdom. The situation in the United States is so bad that almost one-third of the workforce feels overworked or overwhelmed by the amount of work they have to do.

According to statistics, emotional burnout syndrome is found in people following their professions in nurses, teachers, therapists, police officers, and social workers. 'Feeling Overworked: When Work Becomes Too Much' is a survey conducted by the nonprofit Families and Work Institute, supported by international accountancy firm Price Waterhouse-Coopers. 'Overworked' defined by the authors of the study as a psychological state that has the potential to affect attitudes, behavior, social relationships, and health both on and off the job (Schaufeli, 2009).

The study looked at a sample of 1003 adults who performed paid work for an employer (as opposed to being self-employed). When asked how often they felt overworked and/or overwhelmed by work over a period of three months, over half said that they felt overworked, and overwhelmed sometimes, and a significant number said they felt that way most of the time.

Professor Andrew Kakabadse at the Cranfield School of Management has also investigated the phenomenon of burnout as part of a strong study of executive performance. His data, based on a detailed survey of 6500 managers from ten countries, suggests all leaders are prone to burnout, but their organizations are often embarrassed by the phenomenon and do not know what to do about it.
