Organizing Theory of the Correctional System

Introduction

Within the field of corrections, there are several theories as to the most effective theory or philosophy in the case of the Ohio task force, retribution, incapacitation; deterrence and rehabilitation are being advocated by various members. In this paper, the position will be taken that rehabilitation is the proper philosophy for the Ohio corrections system. Moreover, going beyond this recommendation, the actual theory to be followed in rehabilitation will also be presented to show exactly how rehabilitation can be effectively put into practice. Explanations that Rehabilitation is the Right Course of Action the effectiveness of Rehabilitation is further discussed when the philosophy of Rehabilitation is explored in more detail.

First, the popular tendency for those in the field of corrections to simply throw up their hands and claim that nothing will ever work properly must be completely dispelled.
