Osteoporosis

Abstract

In this investigation, I have briefly discussed the background of Osteoporosis under the heading of introduction. I have supported the study with certain facts and figures for the best interest of readers. The complete pathophysiology of the disease has been discussed in detail. The factors and symptoms, which lead to this Osteoporosis, are discussed under separate heading. It has been found, that Osteoporosis is commonly found in old aged women. The diagnosis and treatment plan is revealed in this study. The plan has been discussed in highly proficient manner, which will increase the knowledge of the readers.

Osteoporosis

Introduction

Osteoporosis is considered as one most common type of bone disease. The bones of human-being become quite weak due to this disease. It has been found by researchers that in United States, 1 out of every 5 women are subject to this disease. This disease is commonly found among old aged women's. The disease is very silent, the object might know about the disease until the bone does not break. There are certain tests which help in identifying this disease, in the early stage (Medical encyclopedia, 2010). This disease is strongly associated with bone fracture. Osteoporosis is regarded as a serious health issue for the citizens of United States; around 28 million people are subject to this disease. It is a natural fact, that as the age increase the bones get weak which leads to osteoporosis. There are certain guidelines which can be followed in order to prevent this disease. This disease occurs due to the deficiency of calcium and vitamins D.

Discussion

Pathophysiology of the disease

There are many diseases which expose its symptoms late in the life like osteoporosis. Both in path physiology and etiology, osteoporosis is distinctly multi-factorial. The fracture in osteoporosis is occurred due to combination of intrinsic bone fragility and injury. It has been found, that hip fracture is most common form of this fatal disease. Hip fracture is mainly found in individuals who live independently (Cranney,et,al, 2006, pp 52-59). These individuals need assistance while walk for several months, in order to prevent it. Hip fracture treatment is quite expensive; it is found that a total $ 10 billion annually is spent by the victims of this disease.

The medical practitioners are not able to identify the exact cause of osteoporosis. The major causes that have been identified by doctors include age factor, heredity, lifestyle, nutrient and medications.
