Introduction

Othello, the tragedy of a noble hero shot down by a fatal flaw - jealousy - in his character. Shakespeare's other great tragedies - Hamlet, King Lear and Macbeth - deal with issues that affect the welfare of the whole country, while domestic tragedy, Othello, with the eternal themes such as love, hate, jealousy, intrigue, revenge, trust, suspicion, personal interest, racism, judgments and mind. Here we have humanity in all its dazzling diversity.
