Pain severity is one component of a complex and very personal experience, which includes a touch of discrimination, motivational-emotional and cognitive-evaluative dimensions. Evaluation of pain severity specifically sought to guide emergency "pain management decisions, which may include strategies to mitigate the cause of pain and provide relief from pain, which includes efforts to manage environmental, social and psychological mediators of pain perception and expression (Melzack, et al., 2006). In addition, assessment and analysis of the experience of pain the patient will influence the pharmacological interventions aimed at providing relief from pain.
