Saavedra J, 2010, Quantitative criteria of narrative coherence and complexity in individuals with paranoid schizophrenia. Journal of Nervous & Mental Disease.

Narrative coherence and complexity have been considered as key concepts for comprehending therapeutic improvement and recovery of individuals with severe mental disorders. The major aim of this article is to study coherence and complexity of 18 life narratives of individuals with paranoid schizophrenia by thirty quantitative investigation criteria. Two assemblies of patients were assessed: a assembly of 9 patients recently accepted to specific Care dwellings for persons with critical mental disorders (G1) and another group of 9 patients who had been at the identical Care dwellings for a longer time span of time (G2). Differences in patients' life narratives between 2 assemblies are explored. The investigation is divided into 3 phases.

Negative self-esteem and anticipations of contradictory events were powerfully associated with paranoia in all groups.

Bob, Petr,Susta, Marek,Glaslova, Katerina,Boutros, NashN. 2010: Dissociative symptoms and interregional EEG cross-correlations in paranoid schizophrenia. Psychiatry Research: Academic Journal.

Recent findings show that binding and synchronization of distributed activities are vital for the means of consciousness, and there is advanced clues that disruptions in characteristic binding produce disintegration of consciousness in schizophrenia. These data suggest that the disrupted binding and disintegration of consciousness could be related to dissociation, which is historically linked to Bleuler''s concept of splitting in schizophrenia.

Bob, Petr,Palus, Milan,Susta, Marek,Glaslova, Katerina 2010: Sensitization, epileptic-like symptoms and local synchronization in patients with paranoid schizophrenia. Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology & Biological Psychiatry, Academic Journal.

Recent findings show that alterations in synchronization of neural activities underlying sensitization and kindling could be more comprehensively understood using nonlinear methods. With this aim we have examined localizedized synchronization utilising novel assess of coarse-grained data rate (CIR) in 8 EEG signals noted at distinct cortical localities in 44 patients with paranoid schizophrenia. The standards of local synchronization that could contemplate sensitization related alterations in EEG undertakings of cortical sites were then related to psychometric measures of epileptic-like symptoms and affirmative and negative schizophrenia symptoms (PANSS).
