Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Introduction

The aim of this research paper is to discuss the economic issues related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Several new taxes will help fund the program. Each of these components has an impact on the economy as a whole. It is a fact that United States spends more than 300 billion dollars per capita on providing better health care to it citizens, which can also be seen as 16% of country's gross domestic production. No doubt, Obama has been identified as main factor behind this plan but there are other individuals and institutes who also contributed enough through their productive input to make Obama's health care reform successful.

This suggests that Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act have potential to not only to provide better health care to people with low income but is also capable to address various challenges associated with the current health care policies.

Thesis Statement

One of the top priorities of Barack Obama has become without doubt the economy, the climate crisis, and the need to reform health care. The objective of the reform Obama is not to establish universal coverage of health care, as like the models of Canada and Quebec, but to facilitate access to health insurance.

Discussion

There are various issues related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The individual mandate provision of this act requires that with limited exceptions, every U.S resident will be required to have health insurance that meets certain basic standards. Each state will be required to establish an Affordable Insurance Exchange.
