ABSTRACT

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy” and its relation with “psychological affects”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy” and tries to gauge its effect on “human life”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy” and tries to describe the overall effect of “Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy” on “human life”. Through this research, it was found that among all the psychological affects depression and anxiety are the major ones. Most of the peg patients suffer a lot from depression and anxiety because of their immobility.

Background of the study

PEG is tube used for giving nutrition to those patients who cannot take food orally. This tube is very beneficial for paralyzed patients as through tube they can get nutritious food without any problems.

Problem Statement

This tube is used because paralyzed patients who cant take food orally because it chokes them and they get irritated through it. Their chest is congested due to food. The food which they take from their mouth does not reach stomach without problems.

Research Aims and Objectives

Though the PEG tube is very beneficial for handicapped patients this tube has many drawbacks too. In this tube, the researcher aims to find out the psychological of PEG tube on adult life.
