CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Every yea, around 30,000 tons different types of pesticide, collectively known as pesticides have started spreading on the Fields of Germany. When observed, the amount of these pesticides reached to more than 60 thousand tons in United States. In United States, 250 active ingredients and 1900 different products containing pesticides are allowed, nevertheless, there exist much more than these (Jose, 2008). On one side pesticide effectively protect the human from harmful animals, plants and micro-organisms, and to ensure the supply of healthy and hygienic food to people. On the other hand, they can air load, water and soil and eventually affect the health of people adversely. Particularly, the use of illegal and inappropriate pesticides has become much of a concern for United States. For reducing the risk involved in use of pesticides, it needs to investigate in extreme details.

Research Aims and Objectives

The main aim of this research paper is to identify effective methods used for pesticide analysis. This aim will be achieved through following objectives:

To identify the importance of pesticide analysis

To highlight various effective techniques used for analyzing pesticides

Statement of the Problem

The increasing number of pesticide use is increasing the risks for humans in their daily life. Since the use has been increasing, there are a number of illegal pesticides that have been introduced in the market (Thörn, 2001). The increase of pesticide has created numerous health issues. Therefore, it is important to keep a check on the quality of these pesticides. For this there are number of methods introduced that analyzes these pesticides.

Significance of the Study

This research paper will be of importance for the students that can easily identify different methods of pesticide analysis and understand how these techniques are performed. Furthermore, it will help the industrialist in identifying the most effective methods that are being used for pesticide analysis.

Purpose of the Study

The main purpose of the study is to identify the impact of pesticides and identify different methods used for its analysis. In addition to this, this research paper focuses on highlighting the importance of pesticide analysis.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

Pesticide-Overview

In United States alone, around 4.5 billion pounds of chemicals are being utilized as pesticides every year. This figure also includes around 20,700 products of pesticides and around 890 active ingredients that are registered in the name of pesticides. The agricultural sector accounts over three-fourth of the total volume of chemicals that are being used as pesticides, while the remaining amount is being applied in other industries, garden or homes. Herbicides are the most commonly used pesticides in the country (Ware & Whitacre, 2004). The full name is herbicide atrazine, commonly used in United States in the crop production section of agricultural and other herbicide 2, 4-D is being commonly applied in gardens, homes ...
