Petrobras Industry Brazilian Energy

Introduction

Brazil has been speedily modifying its international approach and insertion into world energy markets throughout the course of the last two decades. This conclusion was partly planned and state oriented, but also the result of pressures used by market forces and municipal society at large. This procedure is also a reply to a multidimensional situation that is imposing qualitative changes on the country's foreign principle and international outlook. Several features have shaped these developments.(Silvestre,45)

In the first place, Brazil presently relies upon a relatively solid and stable macroeconomic context. In this manner, it enjoys a favorable balance of payments and, for the first time, its foreign reserves are larger than foreign debt. In addition, from 2006 onwards, Brazil became a fluid capital exporter. Following the global product rise, the country's agribusiness sector increased at extraordinary rates, while the internationalization process of a series of large and successful national firms assisted to creating the new “trans-Latins” category. Firms such as Gerdau, Vale, Petrobrás, Totvs, and Odebrecht gave the homeland unprecedented regional and international leverage.(Silvestre,45) Contributing to this favorable image, arguably, has been a stage of political consolidation of domestic institutions, while in the regional sphere; Brazil's presence has developed considerably. In this context, the country's relative prominence in the power sector constitutes an additional positive factor among many others. Petrobras has christened, at the Brasfels shipyard, in Angra dos Reis (RJ), the P-57 vessel platform, which will operate in the Jubarte area, in the Espírito Santo piece of the Campos Basin, 80 km off the Espírito Santo coast.(Duffy, 98) This unit opens the way for a new generation of platforms, designed and constructed based on a technology notion that focuses on streamlining projects and standardizing equipment. This is a form that will be a quotation for future Petrobras platforms, such as the P-58 and P-62, and for units that will operate in the Santos Basin pre-salt cluster.

The P-57 is an FPSO- (floating output, storage, and offloading) kind platform, and is part of the second phase of development for the Jubarte field. Anchored at a water deepness of 1260 meters, it will make oil of 17 degrees API (a measure of the oil density). The platform will be capable of processing up to 180,000 barrels of oil and 2 million cubic meters of gas per day. It will proceed on stream later this year interconnected to 22 wells, 15 of ...
