Introduction

Overview:

Consumer behavior involves the cognitive processes that consumers go through to identify needs, find ways to address these needs, make decisions whether to buy or not, interpret information, make plans and implement these plans (e.g., by engaging in comparisons or for purchasing a product). My research will focus on the consumer behavior of people in New York, America.

Aims of research:

To analyze and determine new perspectives in consumer behavior.

To determine the ways through which customer perspectives can be mold to fit a company's requirements.

To better understand the mind of the American customer.

Research Questions

The research aims at addressing the following questions:

What is the new perspective of consumer behavior?

What are the ways through which these perspectives can be incorporated in a company?

How can the behavior of American be predicted?

Significance and contribution to knowledge:

This research report is very significant from the perspective of consumer behavior because this research would add more information into the already existing database of consumer behavior. This research will focus on the more critical aspects of consumer behavior.

Literature Review

We often take the influence of a culture for granted, but they are very important. An American will not normally negotiate with a shop owner, which is a common practice in many parts of the world. Physical factors also influence our behavior. Most likely, we will buy a drink when we are thirsty, for example, and food manufacturers have found it more effective to advertise their products on radio in the afternoon when people are hungry. A person's self-esteem will tend to influence what he or she will buy; a senior manager may use an expensive car. Social factors also make a great influence on what consumers buy often; people often follow the purchasing pattern of those people whom they like. The social environment includes both the main culture and a subculture. So, shoe manufacturers would want the athletes to wear their shoes. Finally, consumer behavior is influenced by teaching you to try a hamburger and learn that it meets your hunger and taste good, and the next time we're hungry, you might consider another hamburger.

American customers usually engage themselves information search before buying any products, this information search could be both internal search and external search.
