Playing in the NFL is Not a Privilege

The NFL has become a joke when it comes to professional athletes and getting away with murder. Roger Goodell has reinstated Michael Vick to the NFL after his role in a dogfighting ring. Don't get me wrong, I am all about giving folks a second chance but not in the NFL. These individuals are supposed to be role models. They get paid millions to play a kids game and entertain. If we allow them to break the law, serve the time and then reinstate them, what kind of message are we sending to the kids? If I violate or break the law to a point where I get arrested, I can all but guarantee you that my job at this station or any other station would be terminated immediately. Chances of me get another job somewhere else, depending on the crime, pretty slim. I hurt my career by making wrong decisions. NFL players hurt their chances of making millions for a few years for making bad decisions. Michael Vick said after being reinstated by Roger Goodell that playing in the NFL is a privilege. Is it? If it is, then Ray Lewis and Michael Vick should be working and employed by somebody other than the National Football League.

Just because a guy can play a sport well doesn't mean the world opens up its pockets and pay tens of millions of dollars to him. It took a lot of players playing for almost nothing, and a ton of business genius and marketing to make the league what it is.
