Abstract

This research paper is based on highlighting the importance of international affairs and diplomacy for a country. The issues that are part of the international affairs and diplomacy and how it is handled are effectively described. The international affairs and diplomacy need to be managed effectively by the politicians, government officials and diplomats so that they could defend their stance in the international meeting and conferences held for global harmony.

Introduction

The art and practice of conducting negotiations among the representatives of states or groups is commonly known as diplomacy. Normally it is referred to an international diplomacy that is the conduct of international relations with the intercession of professional diplomats. The issues that are mostly resolved by the process of diplomacy are related to trade, economics, human rights, environment, war and peace-making. The negotiation process is used by the diplomats on international treaties before the endorsement by national politicians. Diplomacy is an employment of tactics for gaining strategic advantage or to find out the mutual solutions that can be used for solving any issue like poverty, hunger, human rights protection etc. All the issues are resolved in a polite and non-confrontational manner among all the diplomats and national or international politicians (Normand, 2008). International affairs and diplomacy are closely related to gathering or espionage of intelligence. Some of the diplomats are openly known as spies and embassies provide basis for them to plan out all the activities that can be beneficial for the society.

Discussion

United Nations is an organisation that looks after the issues related to international affairs and diplomacy. United Nations provides institutions, mechanisms and standards that can assist the diplomats in resolving and identifying the solutions to the issues that are raised within the society. The role of media is of great importance in international affairs and diplomacy as it helps in keeping the people aware of the initiatives and activities that take place around the world. Mass media pays more attention towards the human rights issues and questions related to it and the focus is mainly on foreign policy and international relations. The human rights activists groups and NGO's can also play an effective role in managing the diplomacy and international relations or affairs with their own established platform. The issues related to poverty in the country can be effectively managed with the help of diplomacy and international affairs management (Ruggie, 2008). The meetings that are held among all the members of the United Nations Members are based on identifying solutions and raising the issues that are faced by the citizens of any particular state or country.

The diplomats need to prepare themselves about the issues that they are going to raise in the international meetings and conferences that are held under the umbrella of United Nations, so that they can maintain their stance effectively and keep themselves aligned to the societal, economic, human rights purposes.
