About the author

Peter Ferdinand Drucker (Vienna, November 19 of 1909 - Claremont, November 11 of2005) was a lawyer and Austrian author of many works recognized worldwide. Drucker made his mark in his works of his intelligence and his tireless activity. Today he is widely considered the father of management as a discipline and is still under study in the most prestigious business schools. Reason for Selecting the Book

The book represents the radical transition from capitalism to the knowledge society. This is a significant transition important to understand in terms of organizational behavior. It has wide implications and a historical background relevant to the current management practices. This is the reason; the topic is selected to fully understand the reasons that brought about the change in organizational behavior due to knowledge management.

Book review

Post-capitalist society is a society of knowledge. In a capitalist system, capital is the critical resource production is completely separate. In this society where people are heading very quickly, knowledge instead of capital is the key resource. It cannot be bought with money or capital investment created. The author explains at length the emerging economy, knowledge economy, its protagonist (the knowledge worker) and the implications for organizations. In a situation where a company is a competitor and the company used similar techniques to organize their own processes, the main resource competition becomes knowledge.  Knowledge formed a great potential for increasing the effectiveness of manufacturing processes (whether they sell food or assembly vehicles) (Drucker, 2001). In order to create significant added value, the company must use its existing knowledge more efficiently than its competitors, and use this knowledge in all its activities, faster and more completely than the competition

Taking into account that the environment in which the company develops is constantly changing, consequently, it changes the requirements for the necessary knowledge. Based on knowledge management - management is in constant change. The company must learn in time to abandon outdated knowledge and maintain current knowledge, thus responding to the changes (Drucker, 1990)
