Abstract

This study will encompass the past research in two ways by (1) Recognizing the role of government in reduction of poverty and (2) Recommending the strategies that can help in bringing economic stability in a country. This research is based on the secondary data available in the journals, websites (United Nations and World Bank) and newspaper articles. The role of government will be assessed on the basis of its capacity and economic development policies that will relate to the difference in housing, education and health sector's funding. The major factors that can bring stability in the economy of the country will also be elaborated in the report.

Concept of Project

“Poverty: Refutation of alternatives and opportunities and violation of human self esteem” The title highlights a cruel social issue of our society, which is commonly known as 'Poverty'. Poverty is spreading in many societies like a contagious disease. Criminal activities found in a society are mainly the result of exceeding poverty scale. This project will help in understanding the most deadly social issue prevailing in any of the society and will provide solutions to it.

Introduction

In this research proposal a social issue commonly known as Poverty is explained in detailed form.

The condition of an individual who is in short of a certain amount of money or property is known as poverty. On the other hand the ones who lack in basic needs (food, clean water, shelter, clothing, health care etc.) come under absolutes poverty also known as destitution. Almost 1.7 billion people of the total world's population are estimated to be living in absolute poverty at present. At present, the main aim of the world many other internationally acclaimed organizations such as the World Bank and the United States is the poverty reduction. This will enhance the living standards of the society and will help in reduction of other criminal acts. (Samuel, 1998)

Literature Review

Under the United Nations umbrella, the basic definition of poverty is the lack of basic ability to contribute effectively in the society. Poverty means powerlessness, insecurity and exclusion of individuals from their basic rights (Crandall, 2004).

According to World Bank, poverty can include low income and the incapacity to acquire the basic necessities for an individual's endurance and self-respect. Poverty often comprises of poor condition of education and health, lack of opinion and opportunity to better living standards (Basolo, 2001).

The percentage of the economic poverty is declined in developing countries. It is mainly due to the improvement occurred in South and East Asia.
