In this study we try to explore the concept of Applied Nursing Research in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on Nursing Research and its relation with Perioperative Procedures. The research also analyzes many aspects of Nursing Research and tries to gauge its effect on Perioperative Procedures.

Introduction

Preoperative Routine Shaving of the Surgical Site is the removal of hair from the skin area, which is subjected to a surgery. It is done to minimize interference with the incision and infection. The routine shaving of the surgical site is part of the preoperative preparation of the patient, and it is one of the most significant factors in the control of surgical-site infections (SSI). Once the area has been cleaned up, the nurse can proceed to reduce microbial skin with proper hygiene and antiseptic treatment. The preoperative removal of hair with blade has become a practice widely established, which is based on the presumption that it prevents post-operative infection (Daniels, 2007). Although it is necessary to reduce the chances of developing problems, routine shaving of the surgical site is itself a risk of infection because it can cause micro-lesions of the skin.

Why It Needs Change

Establish its practice on scientific evidence is and must become a reflex for any caregiver seeking to improve its practices. It removes hair since their presence can interfere with the exposure of the posterior incision and wound, suture the incision and application of adhesive tapes and wound dressings. It is also considered that the hair is associated with lack of cleanliness and hair removal reduces the risk of surgical site infections (SSIs).
