Purpose of the Project

The project to be completed is regarding expansion in the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure of the company in order to fulfill the anticipated requirements for the future. The current 10 terabyte data warehouse of the company is expected to grow at a rate of 20% per annum and therefore would fall short of fulfilling the increasing requirements. Therefore, this project is aimed at performing the required expansion and upgradations of the present IT infrastructure(Iyer & Henderson, 2010).

Background including current process

At present, the company is utilizing web analytical tools to a great extent. Since the company was established just a couple of years ago, it lacks a sound Information Technology management staff. Furthermore, the annual growth rate of the company calls on the need for appropriate expansion in its IT infrastructure (Rainer, 2008). This project is to have expansion in the existing IT infrastructure of the company that would be insufficient in future.

The project goal is to enable the company to cope up with the increasing requirements of the IT services and capabilities by performing necessary expansion. As a result, the company performance is likely to improve. The IT role for this project is to increase the existing data storage capacity of the company that is currently based on MS Access and to enhance its operational systems. Moreover, the enhancement of the analytical tools utilized by the company would also be performed. It is expected that this will greatly enhance the company's IT related performance (Jamil , 2011).
