Thesis Statement

This paper will serve to offer an analysis on all the gifts of the spirit are in operation today, and spell out the uncertainty surrounding gifts of the spirit that whether it is applicable in today life or not, as well as impart the understanding on charismatic theology will be considered.

Need of the Study

In every religious circle, the issue of spiritual gifts has provoked extraordinary interest. One of the prevailing topics of discussion in the religious circle is whether all the gifts of the spirit are in operation today or not. Several religious people debated on this matter of concern in a number of books, as well as in Churches. Charismatic theology asserts and supports claim that all the gifts of the spirit are in operation today. This study plays a significant contribution in solving the puzzlement whether the gifts of the spirit is applicable or not (Stitzinger, 2003).

Procedure of the Study

The subject of gifts of the spirit is a very emotionally and divisive charged one. A number of Charismatic groups have a lot endowed in the idea, which they seizes the authentic mystical gifts of the spirit documented in the book of Acts.

Similar to any question of theology, the response should come from the Old or New Testaments, or scriptures. Presuppositions and prejudices should keep aside. In order to avoid subjectivity, experience of the research will not be a criteria or standard. In false religion, such as occultism, paganism, even Mormonism, quite a few things accepted as “gifts” are apparently prominent. Emotional and spiritual experience are essentially unreliable and not to be trusted. Only Word of God, translated with sound principle that is exegetical, can provide answer to this question in an objective manner.
