CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

Outline of the Study

This study will be based on the topic “Teachers Experience as They Move From public Schools to Charter Schools”. The first chapter will provide an introduction to the topic including the purpose and significance of the study. The second chapter will present a review of relevant literature, highlighting the previous research carried out in this field. The third chapter will cover the methodology for this study. The analysis of findings and discussion will be presented in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter will conclude the study, providing implications and useful recommendations for further research.

Background of the Study

Education is one of the basic necessities of life. Good and quality education is everyone's right. When we talk about good and quality education the role of teachers seem to be very important. For the provision of good and quality education it is indispensible that teachers should possess professional qualities. There are a number of factors that can affect the qualities and the way in which a teacher teaches. One such factor can be of type of school that teachers join. This means whether a teacher joins a charter school or a traditional public school. Sometimes the transition of teachers from public school to a charter school may also affect the teachers way of teaching and qualities that they need to possess. Transition of teachers from public school to charter school is one factor that can cause its effect on variegated aspects for instance, teacher's decision making authority changes, teacher's compensation and market values varies as they move from a public schools to a charter school. The aim and objective of this research is to reveal and discuss all those changes that a teacher faces when he or she moves from a public school to a charter school.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this research is to explore what are the different experiences when the teachers move from public school to charter school. This study aims to reveal different changes and problems faced by the teachers when they transit from public school to charter school. The study would also categorize whether the changes that are faced by the teachers are more positive or negative.

Rationale of the Study

There are a number of reasons that make this research study important and significant. The first and foremost reason to conduct this study is that there is a dearth of literature related to this topic. Through this study, an attempt would be made to contribute valuable information and data to the literature related to this topic. Another reason that makes this study logical is that through this study all the changes and problems that teachers face would be revealed. When these problems and changes would be in hands then attempts can be made to resolve these issues and problems.
