Introduction

Many people tend to fear from speaking in public which eventually prove to be a hurdle in the success of their life or their progress in hampered, because they lack the ability of speaking in public. This problem, can also lead individual from shying away from the situation where they can excel. If they tends, to become a part of the assigned project but tend to run away from it, due to reason that they hesitate to speak in front of the public. It does not mean that those people who tend to shy from the speaking in public are not skilful communicator. They can be a persuasive communicator, but in a different context, they can be good inter-personal communicators. Many people in the past have worked on this subject in order to help those people overcome this problem and excel in their life. Eradicating their weakness and providing them opportunities to excel in their career and come out of this condition. Among many therapeutic approaches, to facilitate those people to overcome this fear of public speaking, one such approach, which this paper, tends to study is The Lefkoe Method (TLM). This approach aims to eradicate the long lasting stimuli which stop people from speaking among the larger audience which they are alien to them.

TLM

The Lefkoe Method (TLM) identifies common fears among the people such as the fear of making a mistake and building the perception that such mistakes would lead him/her to face rejection in the society. One other vital fear, which surface among such people is the fear of getting judged. Such people tend to perceive as if they are under the continuous radar of others. In the TLM method, there exists two sub-processes known as the Lefkoe Belief Process and the Lefkoe Stimulus Process.TLM is a process, which in some ways similar to cognitive therapy although there are some aspects attached to it which makes it dissimilar to cognitive therapy itself. Highlighting the first major difference between the two tend to exist in the areas which incites believes.
