The business area which we have chosen for this paper is referred to the case study provided. This is about a ship repair and quality measures to be taken in order to assure quality of the ship. The U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC), with facilities in Yokosuka and Sasebo, is tasked with keeping the U.S. Seventh Fleet operationally ready at all times. Innovative employees at Sasebo's production shop used a lean 5S approach and other quality tools to establish a completely new way of managing their materials inventory. Among other results, the team reduced time spent looking for parts by 80 percent and qualified as finalists in ASQ's 2008 International Team Excellence Award process (Meegan, 2007, 100).
Section 2: Stakeholders
An organization's commitment towards its customers and its stakeholders is one of the most crucial and sensitive concerns that have to be addressed every day, through each of the company's activities. It is certainly not an easy task to keep up with the quality compliance of the organization's offering while also considering the needs and requirements of the company's stakeholders. Tetley realizes the crucial association with its stakeholders and conducts regular monitoring for their needs and requirements. Governmental regulations have a crucial impact upon the company and the company, in turn, is of interest to the state because it earns wealth and economic stability for the government. Taking into account the company's expectations of its stakeholders has many advantages because it allows him to expand his universe, to prevent and manage risks, improve its practices, to benefit from external expertise subjects is concerned, and credible commitments in environmental or social actions. This is a voluntary process and a real commitment on the part of the company, but is also an opportunity to better anticipate and write operations over time, sometimes giving a competitive advantage.
Stakeholders are all actors, internal or external economic and social partners of the firm. The activity of the company has a direct or indirect impact on these players and these players have a greater or lesser influence on the company. These are complex networks of influence, relationships, partnerships, power, and interdependence: a certain extent, the company depends on each of its stakeholders for its survival, and vice versa. Stakeholders are involved in the company's business in terms of social responsibility. The stakeholders of an organization include, Employees, Shareholders, Customers / consumers, Suppliers, Competitors, Partners, Authorities, Local authorities, Investors, Associations and/or NGOs.
For a business, information, consultation and dialogue with stakeholders is essential: it is the prerequisite for the legitimacy and value of the policy of sustainable development that seeks to engage. The stakeholder map for the Ship Repair is as follows:
Customers
For British Airways, the customers are the most important asset for the company. The Ship Repair center wants to maintain its customers by providing them best services.
