Social media has immense affects on our society, and most of them are negative. People like watching television and there is no harm because it connects us to the whole world also helps us in keeping abreast with the global news. Television keeps us updated with the happening in the world, but it has negative effects, as well. There are people who take advantage of this medium and exploit people. Marketers are the people who take complete advantage and market their product without considering any ethics or whatsoever (Bell, 2010).

Nowadays a new trend in television is the reality shows. Reality shows are increasing day by day, and people watch it with great zeal and enthusiasm. Reality shows have huge adverse affects on people. Reality shows do not depict what they should; instead, they have become unethical. The negative impacts of reality shows are discussed in this paper.

People are so obsessed with reality shows nowadays that they cannot wait for the next episode of the low grade show. These people are the reason, why such shows are gaining popularity. Reality shows star well known stars so that their show gains popularity. The producer of the show gives a huge amount of money to every star that he casts in his show. Yes, cast is the right word because the shows are not based on reality (Susan, 2007). These shows are scripted and choreographed. Instead to being their own self and show their individuality stars do what the producers do. The producer scripts the show in such a way that will increase its viewers.
