Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to identify the ways through which the HR literature informs the recruitment and selection process. The paper is a description of the outline of the tutorial group and the workings of the group. The paper also provides an overview of the good and bad things of this literature.

According to the HR literature on Human Resource Management, the processes of recruitment and selection are very important processes which can be performed by a human resource manager. The main reason behind the functions of recruitment and selection is that the companies want to choose the best person for the right job so that the concerned person can perform in a productive way. According to (Alrichs, 2000), the recruitment process is comprised of different stages including the recruitment, job analysis, induction/follow up and selection. As per the literature on human resource management it is necessary for the HR manager to have a complete understanding of the benefits of adopting the effective recruitment system in organizations (p. 56). Thus, for an effective organization it is also very necessary that the high quality employees should be hired because they can be very helpful in the achievement of goals. This can be helpful in minimizing the risks of having the unskilled employees which could be dangerous for the organization in achieving the effective results. According to the literature presented by (Thompson, 2009), effective recruitment is a very beneficial concept because it is helpful in filling the vacancies quickly and is also helpful in the maintenance of performance. It is also mentioned this helps the organization to be safe from the financial losses because it helps in the immediate hiring of staff in an effective manner (p. 89). According to (Sparrow, 2012) it is necessary for an organization to make a complete plan of the recruitment and selection process before making a decision about hiring a new staff (p. 268). Firstly, it is necessary for the human resource managers that they should have an idea about how many people they want to hire and what skills they are searching for in a required person. It is also very significant that the needs of manpower should be forecasted which could be helpful for the organizations to achieve the long term strategies of the company.

According to the HR literature presented by (Sparrow, 2007), recruitment is that process which is used for the identification that the organization is in a need of hiring an employee at that position, on that time, and with that skill (p. 144). After making this decision, the process of selection starts with choosing the suitable candidate for the purpose of filling a post.
