Introduction

The technology is in one respect as old as humanity: Many of the approaches in anthropology thus relate to the overall structure of technology in all of human history and associate it with a biological human condition. But recent anthropological thinking is also reflected in the specific details of modern technology. It is often argued that there is a structural difference between the modern, scientific technology and old forms of craftsmanship of ancient and medieval forms of technology. Thus, the main issue for modern anthropology is to analyze the effects of modern technology to our picture of humanity: how to define rights in an era of high technology.

Progress in technology is very useful to humanity, as it can lead to treatment of diseases, mastery over nature, and steady progress towards a more human society. The technical and scientific developments profoundly affect our society both socially, politically, ethically, economically and culturally (Kroes, 2001).

Discussion

Scientific advances in technology have also dramatically altered the relationship of man with nature and the interaction between living things. Today science and technology permeate the highest levels in society today.

Among the public, certain distrust is detected, even for the science and technology. This indicates a significant gap in communication between scientists and society. Many reasons justify these attitudes: ignorance or misunderstanding of science by the public, inaccurate or biased media coverage, uneven distribution of costs and benefits of science among different subgroups of society, lack of public control over applications S & T, and inability of scientists to communicate their ideas in plain language(Durbin, 1992).

Today, technology is part of the system of life of all societies. Science and technology are joining the corporate will and policy of companies to control their own destinies, their means and power to do so. Science and technology are providing the society with a wide variety of choices as to what could be the fate of mankind. The technology aims to improve or optimize our control of the real world to respond quickly and predictably to the will or whim of society, although not always to their advantage. Technology is also the province of industry and enterprise commercial worthless if their products fail to meet the needs of consumers.

Traditionally, technology has progressed by the empirical method of trial and error. Technology has been at the forefront in many areas which subsequently acquired a solid scientific basis.
