The gospel of John

The Gospel of John

Introduction

The Gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament of the Bible, one of the four canonical Gospels. It forms together with the three synoptic gospels a central foundation of Christian faith. However, it is very independent on theatrical and theological character. The gospel of John has a special character that strikes the minds of all those who read it with some attention, even though they do not realize what has this effect: it affects not only the minds but it attracts the hearts that do not like other parts of the holy book. The reason for this latter effect is that the Gospel of John presents the person of the Son of God. The Son of God is in a position, where it fell low enough to be in this case. This attracts the heart if the heart is not completely hardened.

Prologue and Construction

The prologue is given a strong rhythm of speech, as he picks up every new word in each subsequent block and performs in every stanza a new idea. His words and form relate to the first account of creation of the Torah, which also begins with "In the beginning," and God's turning to the world as an ordering, the contrasts of light and darkness, day and night describes so distinctive action. Just like this on the creation of man as God's image converges, so here boils down to the Incarnation of the Word, through whom God made everything. The prologue sets so from the coming of Jesus Christ as the incarnation of the Eternal Word.

The prologue takes the place of the genealogies and legends of the birth of Luke and Matthew. He takes as an overture the issues in advance, which then performs the entire Gospel: The Word became flesh, dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, this is understood as a reading guide for the three main parts:

Chapters 2-12: the appearance of Jesus in front of witnesses, divided into chapters 3-6 (speeches and wonders) and 7-12 (debates with opponents, opponents and supporters in divorce)

Chapter 13-17: Farewell to the disciples, divided into 13 (foot washing), 14-16 (farewell speech), 17 (the high priestly prayer of Jesus)

Chapter 18-21: glorification of passion and resurrection, divided into 18-19 (suffering and death), 20-21 (apparitions of the Risen Christ and mission of the disciples)

The narrative frame extends from the testimony of John the Baptist (1.19 EU ) through the public ministry of Jesus (2-12 EU ) and the revelation to his disciples (14-17 EU ) to his crucifixion (18-19 EU ) and the appearances of the risen Christ in front of witnesses (20 EU ).

In the center of John's Gospel is the message that Jesus is the Son of God was. This culminated in statements such as I and the Father are one (10,30 EU ).

This high level of self-consciousness of Jesus provoked the charge of blasphemy , which by some Jews brought against Jesus and tangible expression ...
