Introduction

In the context of the United States of America, the annual budget for prisons twenty years ago was only 11 million. The U.S. surge in the country has held the nation with the highest percentage of people incarcerated in the world, even larger than China, a nation more populous than America. The mass incarceration not only leads to less funds that are dedicated to education, but also can lead to dangerous health problems such as high infant mortality rate (John, 2001).However, in the context of the paper the subject will be touched from different perspectives in order to develop an effective and efficient understanding of the subject. With these differences in mind, it is important that the issue of racial profiling is considered as it has increased over time due to which people who belong to different classes are the ones who are discriminated.

Discussion

As per the research the fact tends to surface that criminal justice system has not been able to fulfill its responsibility of providing fair trial to every citizen irrespective of their color, cast or creed. In fact, the current research shows that today more African-Americans are behind bars than were ever enslaved. The “white only” signs of the Jim Crow Era were replaced with rules against felons seeking employment, education, housing, and loans.

Racial profiling is any action taken by persons in authority who appliquentune measure, without reasonable justification or disproportionately, on segments of the population the fact of membership "racial" or ethnic. Racial profiling can occur in several contexts:

in the field of public safety;

in the judiciary;

in public institutions that must maintain uncertain level of discipline to their customers (schools, youth centers, etc).

by personnel responsible for security (private agencies, doormen, security guards etc.).
