The Relationship between the Quality of LMX Relationship and Ministry Leaders' Level of Self-Efficacy

The Relationship between the Quality of LMX Relationship and Ministry Leaders' Level of Self-Efficacy

Introduction

The purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a correlation between the high quality of leader-member exchange relationships between the Pastor/Assistant Pastor and senior leaders; and, the senior leaders' level of self- efficacy as it relates to performing ministry tasks. The literature is organized in three major sections: Leadership, LMX Theory and Self-Efficacy. The first section provides an overview of the concept of leadership and the leadership process. The second section reviews literature on research related to leader-member exchange theory commonly referred to as LMX. And the third section outlines the literature on self-efficacy.

Results

The survey consists of three different parts, first was representing the demographics second representing the LMX questions while the third contains GSE questions. A sample of 32 respondents was surveyed in order to achieve the desired results. The results and frequency distribution of the survey are shown in tables below. The descriptive statistics is used to organize and present a set of data so that it accurately describes the variables analyzed by rapid reading and interpretation. Among the systems to sort the data are mainly two: a) the frequency distribution and b) the graphical representation.

These systems of organization and description of the data allow an analysis of Univariate data, bivariate or tri-variate, depending on the objectives and nature of the research being done. Commonly called frequency table is used to make the presentation of data from observations in the study, establishing an order by class division and record the number of observations for each class. This facilitates the realization of a better analysis and interpretation of the features described and is not evident in whole or unprocessed raw data. A frequency distribution is a table in the area of ??research.

The above table shows the frequency distribution for the “Age” variable of the demographics part, every respondent has answered the question regarding their age. It is clear from the class interval that survey conducted less than 30 years old and above 70 years. The results suggests that majority of the people i.e. 50% of the overall population belong to the third age group which covers the age interval of 41-50 years comprising of 16 respondents. Approximately 90% of the total population cumulatively belongs to the third and fourth group which suggests that the survey was conducted among the mature people; the reason behind doing this could be the accuracy factor.
