The Need to Explore Vices Revenge/Hatred/Vengeance

The Jilting of Granny Weatherall is a short story written by American writer Katherine Anne Porter. The author shows us a very special character in one of her most famous stories is called: "Jilting of Granny Weatherall". According to Porter (1930) hate is a deep disappointment for which people wish to cause serious harm to others who they envy. The revenge is often the result of the psychic set back as evident from the main character. Such experiences make people to behave in ways which are not socially considered normal and pleasant. Granny is a woman who denies the basic truth her life and the fact that she is dying. Such behavior leads her to develop a behavior of envy towards others as she could not accept the realities.

Faulkner (2007) believes that the hatred stems from a cold and dry temperament which is so prevalent in people, places and circumstances of this nature and the melancholy, in winter, disease, poverty, hunger, in infamy. No doubt in these cases the hatred takes root deeper, but is inactive and slow, but is exacerbated by heat to be cruel. They are prone to hate the proud, the envious, those affected by natural malevolence and some who have contracted the habit, used to indulge in the evils of others.
