Sports have been one of the important disciplines being followed in every school. In the current era, sports carry the same significance as other academic and extracurricular activities. The officials in school are giving more time on the playing field of their schools as a way of bonding exercise with coaches and athletes. They are rather involved in the evaluation, assessment and implementation of the measures for the protection of their districts and students from the growing and grave concerns engaging the risk management in interscholastic athletics. This paper deals with the risk that is presented to the athletes and other sportsmen in a typical high school. All the risk management issues and concepts are discussed in terms of legal obligations. In the contemporary controversial society, the administrators have to counter various challenging task in order to assure that the student athletes are kept safe; proper training is provided to the coaches and all the sports facilities are kept well maintained. Moreover, it is the part of their duties to keep all those districts well protected in an area that continues to be ripe for lawsuits (Berry, Wong, 1993). Even if the backpack of a student is likely to present some security hazard, the situations and the condition of the playing field, the reliability and safety of the equipment and the security of the bus transportation to and from competition all pose threats in the risk area.
