Role of Woman in Psychology

Introduction

Why so few? Is the question that comes to me as a psychologist, why in reviewing the literature and author indexes of the main reference texts in psychology, refers only men? The role of women in scientific and technological development of science is imminent, but only until the twentieth century allowed women to attend college and go to the road has been long. Since its inception, even before psychology was recognized as a field of study, women contributed significantly to this discipline, but unlike the men these women were subject to discrimination and prejudice because of their status as women, regardless account the quality of their ideas.

This paper addresses a topic related to the Psychology of Safety and Health at Work, which are interrelated theoretical and methodological aspects of Organizational Psychology and Clinical Psychology. An important part of the first efforts to rethink the role of women in science , technology and psychology is the rewriting of history to recover from oblivion women who, despite having made important contributions in science and technology, have been silenced traditional history, either because different types of bias, either because of narrow conceptions of history of science to reconstruct the discipline over the names of major characters and theories and best practices and put aside other activities and contributions in any way development side of science. (O'Connell, 1983)

This research analyzes the work of some pioneers of psychology in USA. The Americans are Mary Whiten Calkins, Margaret Floyd Washburn and Helen Bradford Thompson, and Chilean Lola Hoffmann, Saint-Jean Halite Incorporate the historical background working with primary and secondary sources from a historiographical approach to exploring the ethical and gender issues in their life and work. Found interest explicit ethical issues in the work of Calkins.

In this second part, we present a general outline of what we should do about the role of the psychologist engaged in environmental issues, especially with regard to preventive measures around the excessive behaviors that come to water pollution, air and soil.Although Washburn did not write this material, it is true that translated the Ethical systems and Thompson Wundt investigated the difference between men and three authors faced women most discrimination.
