It will address the reasons as to why I am pursuing a concentration in Homeland Security? Further it will answer that What is my experience in of completing academic work at a distance and what special abilities, qualities of life experience I will bring to the program?

Careers in criminal justice focus on aspects of social justice, victims' rights, support the continuation and resolution as well as crime prevention. The field is marked by the rapid development of job descriptions and associated skill sets. Especially in advanced computer applications and electronic surveillance are changing the way develop jobs.

Master's degree in Criminal Justice will help me in a number of different ways to achieve my personal, vocational and educational goals. The degree will help me advance in my career. The education can prepare me for leadership, administration and management positions in all areas of the criminal justice system, including correctional facilities, law enforcement organizations and private and public security organizations. Earning my masters degree in criminal justice may allow me to earn more money. As with most professions, continuing your education and taking on roles with more responsibility often means earning a higher salary. For example, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the minimum annual salary for a police chief in 2008 was just over $90,000 per year, compared to a median average salary of $51,410 for police and sheriff's patrol officers today.

Undergraduate level studies play a very important role in education career of a student as they provide the basic skills and concepts of the professional studies while on the other hand the graduate level studies polishes your practical skills. My undergraduate program has equipped me with the theoretical concepts necessary for building the basis of Criminal Justice and therefore will be very helpful for me at the graduate level.

While earning an undergraduate degree in criminal justice, students become familiar with the theory and modern practice of crime control and learn about the institutions and policies that comprise the criminal justice system. Graduates are prepared for a variety of careers, including those with private security companies, community corrections departments or federal law enforcement agencies. A criminal justice master's degree can prepare me for a more specialized position. I am interested in concentration in homeland security. Earning a master's degree in Homeland security concentration can help me become an expert in this exciting field and may make me more competitive in the job market for specialized positions of Homeland Security.
