It consists of Sainsbury's Supermarkets, Sainsbury's Local, Bells Stores, Jacksons Stores, JB Beaumont, Sainsbury's Online and Sainsbury's Bank. It employs 153,000 people (Johnson, scholes, whittington, 2005, 12). This paper analyses Supply chain Availability at Sainsbury.

Background

Sainsbury's is the oldest food retailer in the UK. Different from Tesco's price conscious, Sainsbury's more concerns itself as a high quality provider. In order to win the belief of customers, Sainsbury's shows the process of food production and the method of choice material on its website. In recent years, due to drastic competition on retailer, Sainsbury's also pays more attention to the price.

Sainsbury's also adopts business diversification. Sainsbury's increases the number of non-food lines it stocks. Around 80 stores have dedicated non-food spaces, and 2,500 new non-food lines are now in place. Selected stores also stock clothing and children's products. Furthermore, the company is opening specialist cook shops in key outlets, capitalizing on Sainsbury's good. reputation for fresh producing and more up market lines.
