High School Evaluation plan

Background

I started looking for High School education to improve technology for schools and decided to become more specific. I looked for a High School that could improve the techniques and training for teachers in the subject area of History. I found a High School that supports student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge, understanding, teaching methods, and appreciation of history.

High School Description

The Teaching program is a discretionary High School program funded under Title II-C, Subpart 4 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The goal of the program is to support programs that raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of history.

The program supports competitive High Schools to local educational agencies. The purpose of these plans is to promote the teaching of traditional history in high schools as a separate academic subject. High Schools are used to improve the quality of history instruction by supporting professional development for teachers. In order to receive a High School, a local educational agency must agree to carry out the proposed activities in partnership with one or more of the following: institutions of higher education, nonprofit history or humanities organizations, libraries, or museums.

Overview

By helping teachers to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation within the core curriculum, funded programs will improve instruction and raise student achievement. The goal of this program is to demonstrate how school districts and institutions with expertise in history can collaborate over a three-year period to ensure that teachers develop the knowledge and skills necessary to teach traditional history in an exciting and engaging way. The project includes:

Summer institutes: Summer institutes will focus on history content at a week long class in high school.

Workshops during the school year: Workshops will focus on best practices for classroom instruction, including problem-based learning, curriculum mapping, and utilizing primary resources.

Online interaction: On-line interaction will focus on assignments, thread discussion with other classmates and shared discussions. This will allow for teachers to have constant communication with one another.

Web-site subscription: The project will fund the support subscriptions to web-sites that can be used to research historical topics.
