It is evident that all the sensory nerves use the same means of communication; however, the communication is basically the transfer of coded information from the sensory receptor to the brain in the form electrical impulses (Jacobson & Marcus, 2011). The difference in sensation a person feels is due to the sophistication in the nerve endings, which generate impulses to be sent to the brain.

Johannes Müller stated that different sensations were determined by the specific activity of sensory nerves serving as a transmission medium, regardless of the stimulus causing the activity, which, however, was later proved wrong (Wolfe, Kluender, Levi, Bartoshuk & Herz, 2011). The actual concept is that the different sensory nerves have different type of nerve endings embedded right beneath the skin, which detect different stimuli like temperature and pressure (Jacobson & Marcus, 2011).

The “codes” that help differentiate the sense of pinprick and a kiss are basically the pressure sensors in the skin, which are also nerve endings. These help detect the difference between the two stimuli by the difference in contact area and pressure (Mai & Paxinos, 2011). Apart from that, the pinprick, being of greater pressure, stimulates a nerve flux that disturbs the overal blood flow causing a tinglish feeling. While a kiss does not generate any tinglish feeling due to the fact that it does not exert a lot of pressure and thus, does not trigger the nerve flux (Canning & Spina, 2000).

Although the camera lens is a complete replica of the eye lens and operates under the same phenomenon, however, there are certain characteristics of eye lens that could not be copied. The basic characteristic and the distinghuising factor of the two lens is that a camera foucs by way of the movement of the lens (Canning & Spina, 2000). While, on the other hand, the eye focuses images on to the retina by way of contracting and relaxing the lens (Baldwin, 1992).

There are various units of sound measurement including Decibel, Sone, Mel Scale, Phon and Hertz. Sound is also a form of wave and thus, hertz can be used to measure the sound frequency. Loudness can be percieved by human ear due to the fact that the ear drum responds to the pitch and loudness differently (Starr, Evers & Starr, 2010). High pitch casues the ear drum to vibrate quickly and vigrously, while loudness casues the drum to vibrate harder. The louder the sound, the further away the ear drum would swing from the stable position.

The three activities could be the sound of drumming, whistle and breaking of glass. The sound of drumming is pure loudness with extremely low pitch. The sound of a whistle is high pitched sound, which is not loud. However, the sound of a breaking glass is a blend of both extremes and is loud as well as at a considerably higher pitch then the drumming.
