Debra Puglisi, a nurse, wife and mother of twins, was tending to her rose garden when she comes under attack and was raped by a drug addict factory worked, who also shot her husband Nino who got in the way. He took her away in his car after kidnapping her. She stays in his house for five days, where she found out about her husband murder over the radio. She was able to accumulate her strength; eventually loosening her ties, and grope all the way to call 911 while the kidnapper was at work.

The book is an outstanding description of will power, hope and a painful journey back to life. Debra, not only had to struggle to heal from the horrific event, and the loss of her husband, but also had to face the agony of court trails and her children.
