Introduction

In June, 1814, Lord Byron attended a party given by Lady Sitwell. At the party, Lord Byron became inspired by the sight of his cousin, the attractive Mrs. Wilmot who was wearing a black frock coat adorned with sequins. Lord Byron was attracted to dark hair and facial expressions of his cousin. This is the essence of his poem about her. (John, 2010)
