CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

The "basic education" is defined as a level or stage of the education system, including early childhood education, primary education and junior secondary education. No Indeed, the basic education has involved both changes in the structure of education system as the extension of compulsory schooling. Basic education is an emerging category for distinguishing re- respect of primary education because it sanctions the right to an education that enables both significant learning and social participation and employment. (Ballew 2003, p.38)

During the last decade, through various types of work, both individual and team, the teachers of the Department related to the field History of Education have cultivated different lines, which serve the interest certain criteria over school history, as are the territory geographical-cultural, age of the subjects of the same gender, or type education. Other research areas cultivated, and each time they were spending more scientific efforts through the work of faculty and doctoral theses are History of Social Education and the History of Physical Education and Sport.

At present, there agreement that is drawn to the universal of basic education "for all" including children, youth and adult educational methods and for- formal and non formal. Also, the institutionalization of basic education is a process incomplete, fragile and not subject to assessment in some countries, while others projected and extending compulsory education to all secondary. (Askew 2008, p.12)

CHAPTER 2: DISCUSSION

One of the areas to which more attention is being focused on our Seminar in the last decade is the history of education of women, especially by four teachers who teach a subject with such a name, and, with the assistance of a colleague, have formed a Research Group on the history and present of the school culture. On the other hand, are actively involved in various congresses, national and international climate, while still running various works on the history of gender-based education. (Ainley 2002, p.243) The concept of gender not only means that in every society is attributed each of the sexes but denounces this cultural conversion of the difference in equality. The legitimacy of the category of gender has helped to clarify relationships power, even if its use implies the risk of vulgarization, as it assimilated "gender" with women and not to gender relations. However, reflections on gender refer to relations between men and women and social constructions of femininity and masculinity.
