The up to date directions of soccer are founded on the mid-19th 100 years efforts to normalise the broadly changing types of soccer played at the public schools of England. The Cambridge Rules, first drawn up at Cambridge University in 1848, were especially influential in the development of later ciphers, encompassing association soccer. The Cambridge Rules were in writing at Trinity College, Cambridge, at a gathering came to by representatives from Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Winchester and Shrewsbury schools.
