Introduction

The structure of modern human society undergoes considerable differences over the centuries. The most noticeable among such differences is the obvious division of people into classes and socioeconomic discrimination. There may be a number of causes of this discrimination that incurs a multiple impacts over the lives of people. Our modern society is divided into haves and have-nots, rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer (Weis, 2008). This uneven distribution of wealth results in establishing classes, where conflict is inherent. Karl Marx discussed the topic in detail and analyzes the structure of classical industrial society. He claims that entrepreneurs and manufacturers exploit labor class for the maximization of their profits and material gain. This exploitation is not limited to their professional endeavors but threatens their personal lives. As a result, there is evident animosity among the two sectors of society. Elite suppress the rights of the poor and the poor fight for their rights (Branaman, 2001).

The major impact of this social and societal discrimination is for children, who are at their development ages. When a child experiences such discrimination in his cognitive and personality development, it weakens the developmental process. There are several impacts of socioeconomic discrimination on the personality of an individual, for example, inferiority complex. This demoralizing notion distorts the confidence of a child in his social exposures, leading to social isolation and solitude. Studies provide significant evidence that such complexes, exposures and experiences earlier in the age of a human being lead to severe stress or in some cases mental disorders. Those who are string enough stand these social and economic dissimilarities in their childhood establish observable resentment in their adolescence. This resentment leads to insurgence against the society, threatening social security.

When people realize that they are deprived of their rights, they fight for their cause. We cannot relate class discrimination to minority rights, as they are not based on racial, ethnic, cultural or national discernment, rather based in financial and economic motifs. Therefore, it is imperative that there will not be anything like effective rebellion, where a group of individuals could bring a revolution in the societal structure. Class discrimination and unequal distribution of wealth is not only prevalent but socially accepted by our societies. Therefore, that resentment in the lower segment of the society finds its way to criminal actions. The increasing rate of crime in our societies is backed with socioeconomic discrimination and its impact on the personalities, attitudes and behaviors of affected individuals. In this paper, we will discuss the same concept, as to what are the causes of social discrimination and class conflicts? How does it impact the psychological development of children and what are the consequences of such changes in believes, attitudes, perceptions and behaviors? Is there any relation between the class discrimination and exceeding the rate of crime? We will try to formulate a practical approach to answering such questions (Miller, Vandome, McBrewster, 2010).
