Analysis of three songs of Madona (Burning Up, Express Yourself, and Justify My Love

Introduction

For this paper we have used three songs of Madona (Burning Up, Express Yourself, and Justify My Love) which will help us to comprehensively analyze gender roles involved in the songs. They can have a storyline associated to the song, exhibitions of pictures or easily focusing on the artist/s performing. Music song is eternally traversing the lines of gender and identity. It is adept to manage this as it is glimpsed as a pattern of art, thus there is no risk to viewers. It is ironic that Boy George has said that “song was the lowest thing to occur to music”, when he himself looked and acted on like he was traversing the lines of gender and boundaries back in the 1980's.
