The Space Shuttle and its Social, Political and Economic Impact

Introduction

It is obvious that several turning points in the history of space shuttle must have had social impact, Sputnik, the moon landing, the space shutter disasters and so on are etched in memories for better or worse, unpacking the nature and the extent of the impact is not a simple tasks a commercial and economic competent to space flight is undeniable. It goes from a far reaching aerospace industry to the famous space shuttles, it is the major component of national and international political economy and it is measurable but it is elusive that effects the daily life and commerce. The economic impact is closely related to the application of the space shuttles which are often inseparable from the environmental issue and the national security. Although undeniable progress is made by the Americans and Soviets, there was a problem with all designs of spacecraft made. The designs were terribly expensive, and could only be used once. Cost hundreds of millions of dollars to build and launch a ship, once used, could not return to fly again. It was clearly necessary to have a reusable spacecraft. In 1972, then President Richard Nixon ordered the development of a ship of this type, a "space L Shuttle System (STS) (Taylor, 2001). Space Shuttle or Shuttle", which could return to Earth, landing softly, be retooled and relaunched again for other missions. Although these would also be very expensive ferry, Congress approved the project and the NASA and its contractors set to work. Nine years later, the space shuttles were completed and prepared to launch. The space shuttle is a rocket with wings. Although it seems a big jet plane, no jet engines, its power comes from huge engines, the rocket is in the queue, burning an explosive mixture of hydrogen and liquid oxygen. The space shuttle fired its three main rocket was launched, upright, Kennedy Space Center in Florida, assisted by two solid rocket boosters attached to the shuttle for launch. Considering the various changes that the space race and space shuttle brought, the paper discusses the impact of space shuttle on society economy and politics.

Social Impacts

The purpose of the U.S. space program in the early '70s was very ambitious. In addition to shuttles, the program included the orbital tugs, huge even by modern standards, the space station, which could easily accommodate 50 crew members, a small station on the Moon's orbit, and the station on the moon itself. And then even more fantastic - manned missions to Mars, including the landing on the planet. Development of a spaceship then evaluated according to conservative estimates of $ 5 billion. The spaceship was supposed to be a nuclear-powered. On August 8, 2011, people have seen technology change that will end the era of the American manned space program-related Space shuttle (Space Shuttle). What would replace it is not clear yet, but do not believe that Russia will ...
