Social work profession

Conventionally, social work or social service has been related to charity. However, in today's times it refers to the conviction that all human beings have rights. Social awareness has increased today, and youth are more enlightened about the terrorism that has overwhelmed the world. Today, the social work has come forward as a lucrative career option that has been chosen by many individuals. Today, the social worker is anticipated to lobby with the government as well as corporations. These help in funding, counseling and organizing camps. Moreover, social work is divided into three heads which are mentioned below.

2.Advocacy

3.Corporate social responsibility

The social work service includes personal initiatives such as mobilizing resources and occupations for the poor for the physically challenged or those who are in need. Other services covered under the scope of social services include providing scholarships, supporting orphanages or old-age homes. However, the government organizations and the NGOs support the campaigns and projects that are related to child support, women's rights and labor laws (Cleak & Wilson, 2004).

Core values

Values refer to the principles or the attitudes that serve as a direction for day to day living. It also refers to the standards that are adopted by the cultures or the individuals.

Social work profession is based upon a set of core values. Therefore, it is essential for the social worker to exercise the intrinsic value and to recognize how important the human relationships are. The five main values that the social workers must practice are mentioned below.

Human dignity and worth (each person has the right to well being, self fulfillment and self determination, consistent with the rights of others).

Social justice (basic human needs, equitable distribution of resources to meet needs, fair access to public resources, individual/community rights, equal treatment and protection under the law, social development)

Service to humanity (to meet personal and social needs and enable people to develop their potential)

Integrity (values honesty, reliability and impartiality in practice)

Competence (proficiency in practice)

The people must understand the impact their actions and the beliefs have on the other people. This is how the society will be able to rise above the prejudice. This will also enable the society to achieve equality and to take care of the well-being of the others. One more thing that is important is the misperceptions that are developed. However, it is not wise to perceive about someone or something on our own judgment and not considering the facts. Human interaction should also be strengthened, and awareness should be created to improve the social welfare of everyone. In order to carry out the tasks in an orderly manner, the social worker must religiously follow the core values of the profession. For this, it is essential to take responsibility and to connect with the people and the community.
